| I wanted to make music that encompasses things that I love about sailing. The vocabulary will probably elude non sailors, and that's o.k., because this album is made for those that sail and love sailing. This is modern sailing music, an entire album of it, made by a sailor for other sailors. It's been field tested by sail makers, world champion sailors, Sail Magazine, the readers of Sailing Anarchy, and cruisers. |
| Music: When I was sixteen I asked David Gowans - a college student that was a member of our sailing club- if there was anything I should learn to do before I went off to college. He told me that everyone that could play guitar and sing, even if they weren't that great, always had good looking girlfriends and lots of pals. He was right. Music has grown to be a part of me, and I constantly strive to improve my style and sound. I started out writing music and fronting a band called Drinkin' With Rankin in bars around Charleston. Lately, I've moved on to play bass in The Padgett Quartet, a local jazz band that keeps much better hours. In addition, I've created the soundtracks for several short films and my music can be heard on the Back to Basics for Sunfish World Championship Speed DVD. I wrote all the music for Orange Tetrahedron, and play every instrument on the album. I had a blast making the album, and am in the process of creating another. |
